Hi everyone, welcome to my blog! Today I want to introduce you to one of the amazing women we work at The Knit Co, a social enterprise that empowers women through knitting. Her name is Kathy and she has a remarkable story of resilience and hope.
Kathy joined the company six years ago, after a devastating earthquake destroyed her home in Ecuador. She had to relocate with her three kids to the capital city, Quito, where she found out about making ponchos. There, she learned how to use the sewing machines and started making beautiful ponchos that are sold online and in local markets.
Thanks to her hard work and dedication, Kathy has been able to provide education for her three kids and rebuild her life after losing everything. Kathy says that working has given her a sense of purpose and belonging, as well as a source of income and empowerment.
